SASSA Bank Details Pending means your banking information has been submitted but not yet verified by SASSA. Payment cannot be released until your banking details are confirmed.
This status is temporary — most cases resolve within 3–10 business days without any action required from you.
What Does Bank Details Pending Mean?
When SASSA approves your SRD R370 grant, it must verify that your banking details are correct before sending payment. Bank Details Pending means this verification is still in progress.
SASSA checks that:
- Your bank account is active and capable of receiving deposits
- The account name exactly matches your ID number holder’s name
- The account belongs to you specifically — third-party accounts are not accepted
- The account is a South African bank account (Capitec, Postbank, TymeBank, Standard Bank, Absa, Nedbank, FNB, African Bank, etc.)
Until all these checks pass, payment is held. Your application status may show Approved at the top while Bank Details Pending shows as a sub-status.
Why Are My Bank Details Still Pending?
Recently Changed Account
If you updated your banking details within the last week or two, SASSA may still be processing the change. Banking detail updates go through a separate verification before they are accepted — this takes 3–10 business days.
New Account
If you opened a new bank account recently, it may not yet appear in the inter-bank verification system. Some accounts — especially digital accounts like TymeBank and African Bank — can take a few days to activate fully in the verification network.
Account Name Does Not Match SASSA Records
Your bank account must be in the exact same name as your SASSA application. If you opened a joint account, have a nickname on your account, or used a married name that differs from your ID name, verification will fail or stay pending.
Details Submitted Incorrectly
A single digit wrong in your account number will keep your details pending indefinitely — SASSA cannot match the account to you. Check your details carefully at srd.sassa.gov.za.
How to Fix Bank Details Pending
If your details are correct: Wait 3–10 business days. Verification usually completes automatically. Check back after the 15th of the month.

- Enter your correct account number, account type, and bank name
- Verify with the OTP sent to your registered phone number
- Wait 3–10 business days for the new details to be verified
See the change banking details guide for step-by-step instructions.

Frequently Asked Questions
Will I still get paid while bank details are pending?
No. Payment is on hold while your banking details are being verified. Once verification completes and your application is Approved, your payment will be scheduled for the next available Pay Day. If the current month’s payment window has passed, you may need to wait until the following month.
What banking details does SASSA need?
SASSA needs your bank name, full account number, and account type. The account must be in your name — the same name on your SA ID. Joint accounts or accounts in another person’s name are not accepted.
Can I change my banking details while they are pending?
Yes. You can update your banking details at any time at srd.sassa.gov.za. Changing them while they are pending will restart the verification clock — allow an additional 3–10 business days for the new details to be verified.
Why does SASSA not accept a relative’s bank account?
The SRD grant must be paid directly to the grant recipient — you. SASSA requires the account to match your ID to prevent fraud and ensure you receive your own money. Using a relative’s account is not permitted.
