Important Update
The SASSA SRD R350 grant was increased to R370 per month from April 2023. Everything else is the same — same portal (srd.sassa.gov.za), same WhatsApp number (082 046 8553), same USSD code (*120*3210#). Only the amount changed.
If you see "R350" on your old status messages, this refers to your current SRD R370 account. Your status checks, banking details, and appeals all work exactly as before.

Step by Step
You only need two things: your 13-digit SA ID number and the phone number you used when you applied. SASSA checks both together, so they must match what is on your application.
Open the official site
Go to srd.sassa.gov.za on your phone or computer. This is the only official SRD status page.
Enter your ID number
Type all 13 digits with no spaces. A single wrong digit gives an error or no result.
Enter your registered phone number
Use the number you applied with. A new number will not work until you update it with SASSA.
Read your status for each month
You will see Approved, Pending or Declined per month. If you are approved, your pay date shows here too.

Quick Answers
Approved means your grant is confirmed for that month. The pay date usually appears a little later, once your batch is scheduled. If it is still blank near the end of the month, check that your banking details are correct.
Fix approved but no payment →Appeals usually take 60 to 90 days from the day you submit. If you still have no outcome after 90 days, call SASSA on 0800 60 10 11 with your appeal reference number.
Check your appeal status →The SRD has no running balance. It is a fixed R370 a month. To see if it was paid, check your status for Approved. To see the money itself, check your bank app or ATM balance.

About the Grant
The Social Relief of Distress (SRD) grant is a monthly payment of R370 provided by the South African Social Security Agency (SASSA) to unemployed South Africans aged 18–59 who have no other income or social grant.
Applications and status checks are handled online at srd.sassa.gov.za. SASSA processes applications monthly and payments go out between the 21st and 30th of each month.

srd.sassa.gov.za/sc19/status Enter your 13-digit ID number and registered phone number. Your current status — Pending, Approved, or Declined — updates monthly around the 10th–20th.

Applying for the SASSA SRD grant is done entirely online. You do not need to visit a SASSA office. Applications are processed within 30 days and you will receive an SMS once a decision has been made.

SASSA is reviewing its November 2026 grant payment dates because the Local Government Elections on Wednesday 4 November have been declared a public holiday. The original plan was 3, 4 and 5 November. No grant is being cancelled and amounts do not change. Revised dates have not been announced yet.
