About the Grant

What Is the SASSA SRD R370 Grant?

The Social Relief of Distress (SRD) grant is a monthly payment of R370 provided by the South African Social Security Agency (SASSA) to unemployed South Africans aged 18–59 who have no other income or social grant.

Applications and status checks are handled online at srd.sassa.gov.za. SASSA processes applications monthly and payments go out between the 21st and 30th of each month.

Submit a New Application

First-time applicants click "Apply" on the portal. You need your SA ID, a South African cell number, and a bank account in your own name. Applications are free.

Appeal a Declined Decision

How to Apply for the SRD R370 Grant

Applying for the SASSA SRD grant is done entirely online. You do not need to visit a SASSA office. Applications are processed within 30 days and you will receive an SMS once a decision has been made.
