SASSA Reviews November 2026 Payment Dates Because of 4 November Elections

Updated2026-10-05
By Busi Mdluli

SASSA is reviewing the November 2026 social grant payment dates. The reason is simple: the Local Government Elections on Wednesday 4 November 2026 fall right in the middle of the normal payment week, and President Cyril Ramaphosa has declared election day a public holiday.

The most important thing first. No grant is being cancelled and your grant amount does not change. SASSA spokesperson Paseka Letsatsi said the review is only about the dates.

Key Takeaways

  • November 2026 SASSA payment dates are under review because of the 4 November elections
  • The original plan was Older Persons 3 Nov, Disability 4 Nov and Children’s Grants 5 Nov
  • 4 November is a public holiday, so at least the Disability date has to move
  • Amounts and eligibility do not change
  • SASSA has not yet announced the new dates. We will update this article as soon as it does

Why SASSA Is Reviewing the November Dates

SASSA pays the permanent grants over the first few working days of each month. For November 2026 the plan was to pay Disability Grants on Wednesday 4 November. That is now election day and a national public holiday, and SASSA does not pay on public holidays.

Election day also puts pressure on the same places SASSA relies on. Many community halls are used as voting stations, and a lot of people will be queuing to vote. So SASSA says it is talking to stakeholders to find “the most suitable alternative payment arrangements” before it confirms anything.

The Original November 2026 Schedule

This was SASSA’s plan before the review. Treat these dates as provisional until SASSA confirms the new schedule.

Does This Affect the SRD R370?

So far there is no word that the SRD R370 is affected. The SRD works differently from the other grants. It does not have fixed calendar dates. Instead you get your own payment date in the last week of the month, which you can see when you check your SRD status.

Because SRD payments normally happen in the last week of November, the 4 November election is far away from the usual SRD window. But until SASSA says so clearly, keep checking your status as normal.

What You Should Do Now

  • Don’t panic. Your grant is not being stopped. Only the dates may move.
  • Don’t plan around the old dates yet. Going to the pay point on 3 November based on the original schedule could mean a wasted trip if the dates change.
  • Collect your October money as normal. The October dates are confirmed and not affected. See the October 2026 payment dates.
  • Only trust official channels for the new dates. Fake “new payment date” messages often go round on WhatsApp at times like this. Check this page, SASSA’s official social media or call SASSA free on 0800 60 10 11.

We will update this article the moment SASSA confirms the revised November 2026 dates.

Frequently Asked Questions

What are the SASSA payment dates for November 2026?

They are under review. SASSA’s original plan was Older Persons on 3 November, Disability on 4 November and Children’s Grants on 5 November. Because 4 November is election day and a public holiday, SASSA is working out new dates and will announce them soon.

Will SASSA pay grants on election day, 4 November 2026?

No payment is expected on 4 November. Election day has been declared a public holiday and SASSA does not pay on public holidays. That is why the November schedule is being reviewed.

Will my grant amount change in November 2026?

No. The review is only about the payment dates. Your grant amount and your eligibility stay the same, and SASSA has said no grant is being cancelled.
