Check online at srd.sassa.gov.za using your 13-digit ID and registered phone number. You can also check via WhatsApp (082 046 8553), USSD (*120*3210#), GovChat (0600 123 456), or by calling 0800 60 10 11 (free).
SASSA pays in this order every month: Older Persons Grants first (around the 5th), Disability Grants second (around the 6th), Child Support and Children's grants third (around the 7th). The SRD R370 pays last — in a variable window from around the 21st to the end of the month. For confirmed dates each month, see our payment dates page.
A Pending status means SASSA has received your application but has not yet finalised processing for the current month. This is normal — verification with Home Affairs or banks is still in progress. Check again after the 15th of the month.
If your SRD application is declined, you can appeal within 90 days at srd.sassa.gov.za under the "Appeals" section, or at your nearest SASSA office. Your appeal is reviewed by the Independent Tribunal for Social Assistance Appeals (ITSAA).
The SRD (Social Relief of Distress) grant is R370 per month in 2026. Other amounts: Older Persons Grant R2,400, Disability Grant R2,400, Child Support Grant R580 per child, Foster Child Grant R1,290, Care Dependency Grant R2,400.
To qualify you must be a South African citizen, permanent resident, or refugee aged 18–59, with no income or income below R624 per month, not receiving any other SASSA grant, and not receiving UIF or NSFAS payments.
SC19 is the internal form code SASSA uses for the SRD status check on their online portal. The status check page is at srd.sassa.gov.za/sc19/status — enter your 13-digit ID number and registered phone number to see your current SRD R370 status.
You have 90 days from the date of a Declined decision to submit an appeal. Each declined month has its own 90-day window — so a January decline must be appealed by April. After 90 days that month's decision cannot be reversed. Appeal at srd.sassa.gov.za under the Appeals section.
The SRD grant is a fixed R370 per month — there is no separate balance to check. To confirm payment was made, check your status at srd.sassa.gov.za. If your status shows Approved, check your bank account or ATM to confirm the R370 deposit.
An Approved status means your SRD R370 grant has been processed for payment. The money will be deposited into your registered bank account or made available at your chosen payment point within 3–5 business days. If payment does not arrive after 5 days, check that your banking details are correct.
Check your status at srd.sassa.gov.za — if Approved, your payment date appears alongside your status. For the full monthly schedule for all grants, see our SASSA payment dates page for confirmed dates each month.
The R350 grant was renamed and increased to R370 in April 2023. The official name is now the SRD R370 grant. The application process, eligibility criteria, and the srd.sassa.gov.za portal are identical — only the amount changed. If you are still receiving or checking for "R350", you are checking your SRD R370 status.
Log in to srd.sassa.gov.za using your ID number and OTP. Select "Update Banking Details" and enter your new account details (must be in your own name). SASSA verifies the account in 3–7 working days — your status will show "Bank Details Pending" during this time. For a step-by-step guide, see the banking details update page.
If your status shows "Identity Verification Failed", you need to verify your details with Home Affairs. Visit srd.sassa.gov.za and follow the "Verify Identity" link, or visit your nearest SASSA office with your original green ID book or smart ID card. The identity verification link on srd.sassa.gov.za is the fastest method.
To qualify for the SRD R370, your income must be below R624 per month. This includes any money received from any source — employment, part-time work, or informal income. If you earn above R624 in any given month, SASSA may decline your application for that specific month only.
